National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) is active in Delhi as Delhi State Health Mission (DSHM) with the objective to provide accessible, affordable, effective and reliable primary health care to community. To attain “Health for all“, NRHM focus is to converge various sectors related to health care such as Education department, Social welfare department, Integrated chid development scheme (ICDS) for nutrition, Municipal corporation Delhi (MCD), Central govt health services (CGHS), Delhi govt health services (DGHS), ESI, Delhi Jal Board (DJB), National AIDS Control Programme (NACP) and AYUSH. But converging all the sectors related directly or indirectly to health care system, there are certain challenges and issues which are important determinants of health. Overall challenges of NRHM is to strengthen the public health institution from primary level to district level to promote public awareness for preventive and curative aspects like Immunization, prevention and control of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria aspects. Lack of human resource, adequate training o f human resource is a major constraints for smooth implementation of NRHM. Integrated approach is recognized a better strategy to achieve better, accessible and goal oriented delivery of health care in Delhi under NRHM.
