Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSMF) is a chronic debilitating disease of oral cavity and oropharynx, symptomatic of restricted mouth opening and intolerance to spicy and hot food. It is potentially a malignant condition with more prevalence towards Asian population. To date numerous theories related to etiopathogenisis of this condition have been suggested. The treatment of this debilitating disease may be by surgical or non surgical means depending on the severity of the disease. The aim of this paper is to discuss in brief about this chronic debilitating disease, the various treatment options suggested and their outcome for this disease.
