The purpose of this study is to make the students play an active and important role in the process of classroom teaching and learning, thus making medical teaching more interesting. In this study self and peer-teaching has been compared to the traditional teaching in medical colleges. The entire class of Ist Year students was asked to prepare a topic. The class was then divided into two groups. One group was asked to ask questions from the prepared topic and the second group had to answer these questions. Then the second group put questions to the first group from the remaining portion of the prepared topic. After a few such intraclass interactive sessions, a questionnaire was given to the class and their response was studied. Most of the students found these interactive tutorials to be “Fun sessions “ which help them to understand and learn the topic easily and effectively and makes them better prepared for exams especially viva-voce. These sessions also improve the communication skills and confidence of the students. Intra class interactive tutorial is an innovative method of teaching and learning which can be practiced by medical teachers in their class-rooms
