Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma(BSCC) was first recognized in 1986 and was integrated in world health organization classification of headandneck tumorin1991. This is a variant of Squamous cell carcinoma which is more aggressive and bears poor prognosis than SCC and is associated with high rate of distance metastasis. Here we present a rare case of BSCC arising in right alveolar ridge area in lingual aspect in an old Indian male, which is an unusual site of occurrence for this tumor in head and neck region.
