Emerging trends in precipitation phenomenon of Al-Li-X alloys

Abstract

Developments in Al-Li alloys have stemmed from density reduction and Young's modulus increasing tendency of aluminum on addition of Li. To develop comparable association of different properties those are already available in conventional aerospace alloys have directed evaluation of Al-Li alloys from composition variation. Aims of such variation have been study about precipitation mechanism their impetus on aggregated state in the alloys. Advantages of dual contemporary precipitation behavior to control ductility by one and strength by other have derived some well-established alloys in aerospace market research. δ'-precipitate evolution evaluation have described about studies from microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), computer simulation of comparisons between 2D and 3D studies, about morphology and volume fraction. Effects of additional elements to the dilute Al-Li alloys have studied to follow the comparable characterization to conventional aluminum alloy systems for high strength application. The ranges of study have included experimental model alloys to commercially available alloys.
