Abstract

Dispersion of nanometeric metal oxides in the polymers improves the properties and applications of polymers. A simple solvent casting method for the synthesis of cobalt oxide dispersed polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanocomposites is reported. This synthetic route is simple and it needs less apparatus. X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique is used to know the structural arrangement nanocomposites. This study revels that, the increase in crystallinity of amorphous polyvinyl alcohol and decrease in crystallinity of inserted dispersed cobalt oxide. The morphological study is undertaken by scanning electron micrograph (SEM) tool. The morphological change is observed in P VA nanocomposites compared to pure PVA indicates the formation of PVA nanocomposites. Thermal behavior of PVA and its nanocomposites are studied by DSC method. Thermal trace shows increase in thermal stability of polyvinyl alcohol nanocomposites compared to pure PVA.
