Acceptance angle of thick phase transmission holographic lenses is generally small and is comparable to conventional concentrating system. This paper presents theoretical optimization of recording parameters to increase acceptance angle of a single holographic lens. However, a single holographic lens cannot track daily movement of sun. To minimize tracking problem of daily movement of the sun, angularly multiplexed holographic lenses can be used for increasing overall acceptance angle of the concentrating system. Such scheme may help to minimize solar tracking. A comparison of experimental and theoretical result for variation in diffraction efficiency with deviation in angle of reconstruction with respect to Bragg angle for angularly multiplexed holographic lenses has been presented.
