Abstract

After 30 years of rapid economic growth (averaging nearly 10% annual growth), China is also facing energy and pollution problems. This study evaluates the environmental efficiency of Chinese manufacturing. It is different from theoretical study with direct reference to Chinese National Bureau of Statistics data, and from the correlation and causal relationship between the study variables of the first study. The results of this study will make up for the first study of the lack of objectivity. The results will help researchers assess the Chinese manufacturing industry’s sustainable development programs and the central government’s efforts to protect the environment.
