Abstract

The present study aims to review the existing literature relating to emotional intelligence and determine its relationships with some of its key correlates. The paper is divided into three sections. Section I presents an insight into three key dimensions of well-being (job satisfaction, affective organizational commitment, and emotional exhaustion) and their relationship with emotional intelligence. Section II provides a brief understanding of various types of employee behavior (job performance, turnover intentions, organizational citizenship behavior, and counterproductive work behavior) and their relationships with the various dimensions of well-being considered in the present study. The last section presents a proposed theoretical model of emotional intelligence and its correlates. Implications, limitations, and directions for future research are also discussed.
