Feeding of low birth weight neonates

Low weight at birth may be a result of prematurity or growth retardation. Enteral feeding of these neonates is compromised due to their immaturity and/or sickness. Issues in feeding of these infants relate to what feeds to be given, when to start, how to progress and how to feed them. Any nutritional gap at this stage has consequences in terms of increased morbidity and poor growth & development.
