Of the various options available for imaging the brain and other intracranial structures in neonates, ultrasound (US) finds an important place because of its ease of use. Despite the limited delineation of various structures, US scores over other modalities such as computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging due to the lack of radiation exposure and relatively quick imaging at the bedside. A brief overview of the equipment and the steps in doing a cranial ultrasonography is given here.
