Pain assessment and management is a neglected area in Indian NICUs. Only recently, the neonatologists and nurses have started paying attention to this aspect. This is also reflected in the miniscule quantity of research published on this topiofrom our country. This article raises several research issues in relation to pain in the newborn, specifically in Indian context.
