Pharmacological use of digoxin in the management of heart failure and ITS effects on cardiac muscle

Heart failure is a leading cause of hospitalization especially among the older adults. Cardiac glycoside plays a vital role in treating patients with chronic heart failure. Digoxin has found to reduce the hospitalization due to heart failure. New data suggest digoxin also reduces the rate of mortality due to heart failure. This paper examines the pharmacodynamics of digoxin and the various aspects of digoxin in relation to heart failure.
