Abstract

Midwives have a significant role in high risk pregnancy care. The important role of Midwives are: Proper identification of the risk factors that are already present prior to pregnancy or which develop subsequently during pregnancy, assuring satisfactory growth and wellbeing of the fetus as well as the mother by appropriate management throughout the course of pregnancy, providing emotional support, providing education, promoting healthy behavior to prevent complications, assessing developing signs of complications and making appropriate referrals. A major part of the midwife's role is providing the information and support the woman needs to make her own decisions.
