Measuring patients’ satisfaction with nursing care at medical wards

Measuring quality of health care includes mortality, morbidity and patients’ satisfaction. Among these three, patients’ satisfaction is important and the vital aspect in determining quality of care. Thus, a cross sectional study was conducted to measure the level of patients’ satisfaction with nursing care in medical wards by using Satisfaction with Nursing Care Scale (SNCS) of the Newcastle Satisfaction with Nursing care Scale (NSNS). Fifty patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected and interviewed during the time of discharge. The result revealed that majority of the patients (76%) were males and 36% of them were between the age group of 41–60 years and their satisfaction with nursing care was at a moderate level.
