Despite having so many family welfare programmes, population explosion is still a problem, which our country is facing even now. At the other extreme end, the infertility is also a problem affecting approximately 10% of the couples in India. Infertility is defined as the failure to conceive after one year of unprotected sexual intercourse. Infertility being a medical condition, it is a chronic stressor with severe long-lasting negative social and psychological consequences. Apart from scientific interventions all couples need psychological support. A relaxation therapy is effective in reducing stress levels in infertility.
