Abstract

Infertility issues affect both men and women. The couples become desperate and seek help to achieve their next goal of pregnancy and a child. Worldwide more than 70 million couples suffer from infertility. Assisted Reproductive technology (ART) is much helpful for the couples to achieve pregnancy. But it is mandatory for the couples to understand the legal and ethical issues related to the ART. A non-experimental research design was used to find out the level of knowledge on legal and ethical issues related to ART. 30 infertile couples were selected by non-probability convenience sampling technique. The tools used were (a) demographic variables (b) 20 number of knowledge assessment questionnaire related to legal and ethical issues of ART methods. Results reveal that most of the couples need knowledge on legal and ethical issues. Based on the results, it is recommended that couples who are undergoing treatment process need more information on legal and ethical issues related to ART.
