Effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding breast cancer and cervical cancer among school students

Cancer is a leading causefor death. The common types ofcancer affecting women are breast cancer and cervical cancer. In the present study an attempt was made to evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding breast cancer and cervical cancer among the students in selected schools of Kanyakumari district. Quasi experimental study design was adopted. The study participants were 500 school students. The samples were taken by using multi phase random sampling method. Data were collected by using self administered structured knowledge questionnaire on breast cancer and cervical cancer. There was a statistically significant increase in knowledge among school children at p<0.05, with the calculated paired ‘t’ value 51.518. This study created an awareness regarding cervical cancer and breast cancer among school students.
