Knowledge and practice on breast feeding among mothers of infants between rural and urban areas

A comparative study to assess the knowledge and practice of breastfeeding techniques among mothers of infants in rural and urban areas in Madurai district. Non experimental, descriptive design was used for this study. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 60 samples. Data was gathered through demographic proforma and questionnaire was prepared to assess mother's knowledge of breastfeeding techniques and WHO criteria for infant feeding practices. The study results revealed that when compared to rural 30% & 64% of urban mothers of infant had adequate and moderate knowledge, 20% of rural mothers of infant and 100% of urban mothers of infant had good practice of breastfeeding.
