Adolescence, the period between childhood and adulthood begins after secondary sexual characteristics appear and continues until sexual maturity is complete. It represents one of the critical transitions in the life span and is characterized by a tremendous pace in growth and development. This dynamic nature of adolescents leads them to overwhelming problems like sexual exploitation, early pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS. Hence, they need to be empowered to promote healthy reproductive health behaviours.
