Knowledge Among Student Nurses Regarding Quality Assurance in Clinical Practice

Abstract

Quality Assurance is an ongoing, systematic process designed to evaluate and promote excellence in the health care provided to the clients. It is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for assuring the patients or clients of the quality of practice in nursing. Therefore, a study was done to assess the knowledge among student nurses regarding Quality Assurance in clinical practice. A qualitative research approach was used in this study. The research tool consisted of 29 questions categorized under subheadings like care of patient, hospital infection control, and management of medication and patient rights. The study was conducted in a selected nursing college of Pune city. 110 student nurses of selected nursing colleges was selected using simple random method of sampling, Total years of experience is strongly associated with the knowledge level of the students (χ2=21.3, P=0.001). This shows that a nursing professional gains adequate knowledge as he gets exposed to the field as well as his regular appraisal.
