Abstract

Expanded programme of immunization (EPI) is one of the main integrated health services in Ethiopia where the infant and child mortality and morbidity is high, expanding these program which decrease it. Ethiopian health policy had given emphasis for prevention and control of major communicable diseases, especially vaccine preventable disease. Immunization is recognized as one of the most cost-effective interventions to prevent morbidity and mortality caused by infectious diseases, particularly in highendemic setting. Immunization is therefore a key component of the drive to decrease childhood mortal ity and to ach ieve Mi llennium Development Goal 4—the reduction of underfive mortality rates by two-thirds in 2015.
