Abstract

Several parameters that measure the irrigation performance were analyzed for their relation to design variables, relative yield and net return. Water application efficiency (Ea), water requirement efficiency (Er), water distribution efficiency (Ed) and requirement distribution efficiency (Erd) were examined with respect to design variables (inflow rate, length of run and time of inflow). The exponential function was best fit between water requirement efficiency and design variables and quadratic function fitted well between water requirement efficiency and relative yield as well as net return. The water requirement efficiency and requirement distribution efficiency correlated very well with design variables, relative yield and net return. The water distribution efficiency correlated poorly with relative yield and net return. Water application efficiency (Ea), had a poor linear correlation with design variables.
