Abstract

Callus initiation in leaf explains of Anthurium was the best with combinations of 2, 4-D and BA. Modified MS medium with reduced salt concentration was ideal for callus initiation. Callus initiation was better in the basal portions of leaf explants. Continuous darkness was necessary for callus initiation. MS medium with 1/4 major nutrients was sufficient for callus multiplication. Shoot regeneration and growth of the shoots were the best in MS medium supplemented with B A 0.5 mg/1 + IAA 2.0 mg/1. No rooting treatments were found necessary as the shoots rooted spontaneously in the shoot regulation medium itself.
