Out of 158 gladiolus cultivars screened for the presence of mosaic virus, 30 were found with severe mosaic symptoms and high A405 value, 34 with severe mosaic and medium A405 value, 35 with mild mosaic and high A405 value, 42 with mild mosaic and low A405 value, two with mild mosaic and no reaction, 10 with no symptom and low A405 value, one with no symptom but high A405 value, one with severe mosaic and no reaction and three with no symptom as well as no reaction in DAC-ELISA. Only one breeding line showed high A405 value without apparent symptoms indicating it as a latent carrier of the virus.
