Community Organization of Some Selected Epiphytic Ornamental Flora of Bay Islands

Abstract

In order to identify and understand the floristic composition of epiphytic ornamental flora, a survey was undertaken in the forest floor of Andaman and Nicobar Group of Islands. Among the epiphytic ornamental flora of Bay Islands, Asplenium nidus, Pyrrosia adnascens, Pothas scandens and Monstera deliciosa harbour on eight, three and two host specie, respectively and all of them represented in the strand vegetation. The epiphytic species are in general associated with its other genera, orchids, Ficus spp. and climbers. However, the distribution of epiphytic plant species and its hosts vary with the Island to Island eco-sytstem
