Abstract

A study was conducted to ascertain the effect of pre-harvest spray of thiol compounds on postharvest life of gladiolus cv. Pusa Jyotsna cut spikes. Thiol compounds were sprayed at 40 day after planttng and the second spray was given a week later. Thiol compounds improved fresh weight, uptake of vase solution, flower opening and vase life. Highest vase life (6.65 day) was obtained with pre-harvest spray of 5-sulfosalicylic acid 500 ppm.
