Evaluation of chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora Tzevlev) open pollinated seedlings for vegetative and floral characters

Abstract

The seedlings of twenty open pollinated chrysanthemum were subjected to evaluation studies for various vegetative and floral characters to categories them for their suitability for garden decoration, pot culture, loose flowers and cut flower production. These accessions were evaluated in terms of plant height (cm), plant spread (cm), number of days to bud initiation, number of days to colour show stage, days to full bloom, number of sprays per plant among vegetative characters and number of flowers per plant, flowering duration, flower colour, flower weight (g), diameter of flower and number of days to flower withering were among the floral characters.
