Abstract

Effect of different containers and growing media on yield and quality parameters on (Gerbera jamesonii Bolus ex. Hooker F.) was studied. The plants grown in earthen pots filled with enriched cocopeat produced flowers having maximum stalk length (59.84 cm), diameter (9.69 cm) and number of ray florets having maximum stalk length (59.84 cm), diameter (9.69 cm) and number of ray florets (68.67). The gerbera plants grown in plastic containers with soil mixture produced highest flower stalk thickness (0.86 cm) and weight of flower (21.19 g). The maximum number of flowers per plant (15.53) and per square meter (139.80) were recorded from those containers with enriched cocopeat in earthen pots and buffered cocopeat (14.33 and 129.00) respectively.
