Abstract

The present investigation on the effect of IBA concentrations and time of plating on rhizogenesis in Myratus communis was carried out with four levels of IBA (0, 2000, 3000, 4000 ppm) and three planting dates (July, August and September). The results revealed that IBA 4000 ppm proved significantly superior in reducing the number of days to root emergence to 62.29 in comparison to control (75.94 days). IBA 4000 ppm also recorded maximum percentage of rooting (82.51), average number of primary roots (17.60), average length of primary roots (9.52 cm) and highest field survival percentage (88.42). Among planting dates July and August plantings were at par in recording the minimum number of days (65.93 and 65.46 respectively) to root emergence. August planting recorded highest rooting percentage (67.15), maximum number (14.39), and longest primary branches (8.47 cm) and highest field survival (74.50%). Interactions between IBA 4000 ppm and August planting proved best in recording minimum number of days (60.42) to rooting, maximum rooting percentage (88.80), maximum number of primary branches (20.26), longest primary branches (12.22 cm) and maximum field survival (93.71).
