Abstract

The cut flowers of gerbera are short lived, as they are perishable in nature. Concept of flower drying offers viable solution to preserve the beauty of cut flowers. The stalks of fully opened flowers were trimmed to uniform length. The highest moisture loss was noticed in untreated flowers (81.70%). The least moisture loss (78.00%) was noticed in flowers treated with 1: 3 glycerol to water for six hours. Highest score (4.00) for colour, shape (4.75), appearance (3.83) and texture (4.25) were recorded for flowers treated with 1: 3 glycerol to water for three hours
