Effect of leaf extract of Nyctanthes arboristis L. in vase solution with other herbal products on water relation and vase life of Rosa hybrida var. Grand Gala

This investigation was carried out to study the effect of leaf extract of Nyctanthes arboristis in combination of neem based biocide (Tricure: 300 ppm azadirachtin E.C.), piper leaf extract and 8-HQC on vase life of Grand Gala cultivar of Rosa hybrida. This experiment consisted of 9 treatments consisting of different combinations of herbal extracts and 8-HQC including distilled water as control. This experiment was set up in completely randomized block design with three replications. It was observed that leaf extract of Nyctanthes arboristitis (1000μl/ml) in combination of sucrose (2%), piper extract (2%) and 8-HQC (150 ppm) contributed to highest water uptake, transpiration loss, water balance and vase life among all treatments. The vaselife was observed 1.5 times more than control.
