Abstract

An investigation was undertaken to study the effect of growth enhancers as pre harvest spray on flower quality and yield of gladiolus (Gladiolus grandiflorus L.) variety American Beauty. In the present study, it was found that GA3 at 150 ppm produced the maximum plant height (45.63 cm), number of leaves per plant (8.93), leaf area (168.15 cm2), spike length (52.40 cm), rachis length (31.06 cm), number of spikes per plant (2.06), diameter of first floret (8.21 cm), number of florets per spike (11.68), vase life (9.06) minimum days to spike emergence (70.63) and days to first floret opening (79.20). Further, GA3 at 150 ppm also produced maximum number of corms (1.55) and cormels (20.70) per plant.
