In vitro morphogenesis studies were carried out using the bulb scale explants in Asiatic Lilium cv. Chianti. The bud proliferation was found earliest in MS medium supplemented with NAA (0.15 mg/l) and in vitro rooting was obtained in MS medium supplemented with NAA, whereas, MS basal medium supplemented with BAP failed to induce rooting on the bulb scales. Shoot bud formation and number of bulblets/explant were recorded maximum in the MS medium containing NAA (0.10 mg/l), after 8 weeks of culturing. Half strength MS medium supplemented with NAA (0.10 mg/l) and sucrose (9%) resulted in induction of maximum number of bulblets/explant with maximum diameter and weight after 16 weeks of culturing.
