Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the inheritance of a male sterile apetalous inflorescence in marigold. Two male sterile lines, MS7 and MS8 were crossed with apetalous male fertile line, Selection-21 and the F1’s were selfed to get F2 population to study segregation of petalous and apetalous flowers. In F2 generation, segregation of male fertile and male sterile plants in 3:1 ratio indicated that apetalous sterile trait was governed by single recessive gene.
