Abstract

Five levels of paclobutrazol, i.e. 0, 10, 20, 40 and 60 ppm and three methods of chemical application, i.e. root dip, soil drench and foliar spray along with all possible combinations were tried on two chrysanthemum cultivars. The plant height reduced with the increasing concentrations of paclobutrazol. Root dip method was most effective in plant height reduction. Flowering was delayed more with the increasing concentration by root dip method. The flower longevity was increased by the increase in concentration i.e. 10, 20 and 40 ppm but 60 ppm concentration lowered flower longevity. The soil drench and foliar spray treated plants gave higher number of flowers in both the cultivars. With cv. White Stafour, application of 10 and 20 ppm, while 20 ppm and 40 ppm paclobutrazol in cv. Bronze Mandial significantly increased the number of flowers over control.
