Abstract

The present study was undertaken where in Lilium bulbs were stored under different conditions to observe the viability and performance of the bulbs. The experiment was laid out in Completely Randomized Design with 5 replications and 6 treatments viz. bulbs stored after harvest in the soil after flowering, in plastic storage container with cocopeat, in wooden storage container with cocopeat, at 4±1°C for 6 weeks, at-1±1°C for 6 weeks and in perforated baskets in ventilated room. From the findings, it was observed that storing bulbs at 4±1°C for 6 weeks was favourable for inducing flower initiation in Lilium. The bulbs can also be successfully stored in plastic storage container with cocopeat which exhibited flowering characteristics similar to those commercially cultivated.
