Abstract

The present investigation was carried out to study the influence of different proportions of growing media and to standardize a particular potting media for pot culture of lilium cv. Pollyana. The experiment was laid out in Complete Randomized Design with three replication, consisting of seven treatments. Data was recorded on characters such as days taken to sprouting plant height (cm), spike length (cm), days taken to floweri, number of buds/spike, flowering duration, number of bulbs/plant. Among the different variables, the treatment ‘T7’ had a significant influence on growth, flowering and yield attributes. Highest plant height (113.66 cm) and highest number of bulbs per plant (2.44) were recorded in the pots subjected to growing media of [(Sand + Soil + FYM) + Vermicompost + Cocopeat 2:1:1, V/V] combination. Consequently, the potting media having treatment T7 was considered to be the standard potting media for pot culture of lilium cv. Pollyana.
