Abstract

Gypsophila paniculata L. cv, ‘Bristol Fairy’ is an important cut flower in international cut flower trade. The cultivation of this crop is easy but most of the modern cultivars do not set seeds. Its propagation through vegetative means is not easy and plant propagation has always faced difficulties in rooting. Since the use of tissue cultured techniques for its further multiplication became important, hence, present study was carried on out to determine the effect of different media (MS medium, B5 (Gamborg) medium and modified MS medium) and gelling agents (agar and gelrite) on shoot multiplication efficacy in Completely Randomized Design with six treatment combinations and five replications. Highest efficiency of adventitious shoot regeneration was obtained with MS medium when gelrite was used as gelling agent, whereas, quality shoots were produced with agar as gelling agent in MS medium.
