Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana-141 004, India

Abstract

The study on leaf blight of Chrysanthemum genotype 'Ratlam Selection' was conducted at Research Farm, Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana. Efficacy of six botanicals namely Azadractica indica, Allium sativum, Moringa oleifera, Murraya koenigii, Terminalia arjuna and Syzygium aromaticum were evaluated against Alternaria alternata causing Alternaria blight of chrysanthemum for three years i.e. 2022, 2023 and 2024 consequently. The disease symptoms were first observed in the month of August. Foliar spray was carried out at weekly interval till last week of November. The data revealed that Allium sativum @ 0.2% percent was found to be highly effective against Alternaria alternata followed by Azadractica indica @ 0.2%, Murraya koenigii, Moringa oleifera and Terminalia arjuna @ 0.2 percent under field conditions. The highest yield was observed in plants treated with Allium sativum and minimum in plant treated with Terminalia arjuna. The maximum disease control was observed in plants treated Allium sativum (78.70%) and minimum in plants treated with Terminalia arjuna (32.35%). Allium sativum and Azadractica indica were found highly effective against Alternaria alternata and also enhanced the yield and number of flowers/plant. All the treatments were found significantly superior over untreated control.
