Abstract

Explants from basal scale segments (about 5 mm long) of Lilium hybrid cultivars, ‘Pollyana and ‘StarGazer’ established and proliferated on MS medium supplemented with NAA (0, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0 & 1.5 ml/1) and BA (0, 0.1, 0,5 & 1.0 mg/l). Cultures established much earlier of cultivar ‘Pollyana’ (28.38 days) than ‘StarGazer’ (47.07 days), when the medium was supplemented with BA (1 mg/I). Maximum number of bulblets was regenerated per explant in case of ‘Pollyana’ (7.43) as compared to ‘StarGazer’ (5.12) with NAA (1 mg/l) in the medium.
