Effect of Harvesting Stages, Sucrose, Bap and GA₃ on Bud Opening and Vase Life of Tuberose

Harvesting stages of tuberose spikes showed increase in vase life with the advancement in the stage of bud development. The spikes of cultivar with double flowers showed very poor vase life. The opening of buds was considerably improved with vase solution containing sucrose and 8-HQC. For cv. Single, vase solution containing 1 per cent sucrose was found optimum whereas for cv. Double, high sucrose level i.e. 3 per cent was found most effective. BAP synergised the effect of sucrose + 8-HQC on vase life as well as opening of buds though GA₃ did not appear to play any significant role.
