Abstract

An experiment was conducted to develop a commercial tissue culture technique for mass multiplication of Anthurium andreanum Lind. cv. Agnihotri. Results showed that MS basal medium supplemented with BAP (0.8 ml/1), vit. B5 (0.5 mg/1), IAA (0.1 mg/1), PVP (200 mg/1) and coconut water (150 ml/1) was found best for multiple shoot production (4.66 shoots/explant). The highest rooting percentage (80%) was observed in MS basal medium supplemented with IAA (1.0 mg/1). A survival rate of 60% was obtained when in vitro raised plantlets were transferred in in vivo condition in plastic pots containing soilrite-periite (10:1) mixture.
