Abstract

Studies were conducted on 26 ornamental trees growin in Nauru-Solan area of sub-temperate Himalayan region in relation to flowering periodicity, individual plant present-ability, landscape value and their potential utility in landscaping. Based on microclimate the experimental area was divided into five zones. Among the 15 trees native to this region, Albizia chinensis, Pistatia khinjuk and Prunus cerasoides are recommended for landscaping in all the five zones. Albizia julibrissin is most suitable for zone IV in moist-swamp areas and remaining trees native to the region are good for landscaping in zones I, III and V. All the introduced trees are recommended for landscaping zones I, III and V.
