Random amplified polymorphic DNA markers were used to confirm the mutability of gladiolus cv. Eurovision mutants. Out of seven random primers used for PCR amplification, one primer OP×02 (51-TTCCGCCACC-31) produced polymorphic banding pattern. A monomorphic band of 1 kb was present, both in parent cultivar and its mutants. However, a single band (0.8 kb) difference betwen five mutants, ERM-3, ERM-4, ERM-5, ERM-6 and ERM-7 was obtained. This distinguishes the mutants from cultivar Eurovision at molecular levels. Mutants confirmed with RAPD analysis would be stable for varied characters and further analysis of mutants in advanced generations is warranted.
