Abstract

The evaluation of nine chrysanthemum varieties was undertaken to assess growth, flowering and yield paramiters under open and polyhouse conditions. Polyhouse planting recorded significantly better growth and yield (35–40% more) to open planting. Spray stalk length, size of flower, number of flowers per spray and number of sprays per plot were maximum under polyhouse conditions. The variety Indira recorded medium height and spread with more number of branches, more number of flowers per spray and more number of sprays per plant and per plot. This was followed by Mutant No. 9 with attractive yellow flowers having larger size and good spray length.
