Shoots from in vitro grown cultures of Asocentrum ampullaceum, Dendrobium nobile and Catlleya maxima were tested for their response to Nitsch media supplemented with triacontanol (0, 1,2 and 3 mg/1). The results indicated significant variations among the species for various morphological characters, Catlleya maxima showed better response with culture weight (33.9mg), number of shoots (9.2) and further differentiation into complete plantlets. A. ampullaeeum showed increase in shoot growth (15.6 mm). Among the three species, C. maxima was found to be more responsive and exhibited more culture growth and proliferation. Among the four concentrations tested, addition of triacontanol 2 mg/1 produced noteworthy values for the culture growth, number of plantlets, number of shoots and leaves per shoot.
