Abstract

Mean performance of the rose cultivars studied revealed that Papa Meilland, Peace, Montreal, Montezuma and Paradise produced large sized flowers with long stem length showing their suitability for cut flower purpose. Flower depth accompanied by greater number of petals also enhanced the beauty of the flowers of certain cultivars. However, number of flowers per plant was the highest in Pink Parfait followed by Indian Princess, Papa Meilland and Paradise. High coefficient of variation both at genotypic and phenotypic level coupled with high heritability and genetic advance for thorn density, plant height, plant spread and petal number were of greater importance in selection and improvement of hybrid tea roses.
