The influence of mineral salts on the physiological and biochemical changes during vase life period of cut rose (Rosa hybrida L.) in relation to extension of vase life and flower opening were assessed. All the mineral salts were effective when compared to control in extending the vase life. However, Ca(NO3), and the lower concentrations of Al2(SO4)3 and STS were found effective in increasing the permeability of cell membrane and keeping down the peroxidative changes. The lowered activities of physiological and biochemical changes increased the vase life and also led to slower flower opening when compared with control.
