Abstract

Calli were induced from leaf explant of Petunia hybrida nana compacta on MS medium supplemented with 2,4-D, NAA and IAA. 2, 4-D was most effective in inducing callus. Creamy friable calli induced with 2,4-D at low concentration (1.5 mg/1) were capable of regeneration and shoot formation. A multiplication rate of 16–18 shoots were achieved on MS medium supplemented with 2 mg/1 BA. Regenerated shoots were induced to form roots when cultured on MS medium supplemented with 1 mg/1 NAA. Young plantlets were successfully transferred to community pots for field evaluation.
